PDWC

 

 

     The Projectile Download Workcell is an automated system to remove (download) ADAM mines from 155mm projectiles and supply six ADAM mines at a time to the cryofracture system for demilitiarization.

 

     The system comprises the following items:

 

a)      Projectile Handling System (PHS) – the robot and equipment to download the ADAM mines from the 155mm projectiles

b)      Munition Handling System (MHS) – the two robots and equipment to take the singularized mines from the PHS and load them onto the transport fixtures.

c)      Munition Queuing System (MQS) – The Munition Queuing System is used to transport empty fixtures to the MHS from the Fixture Transfer System (FTS) and remove full fixtures containing ADAM mines from the MHS to the FTS.

d)      FTS – The Fixture Transport System is used to feed the MQS with empty fixtures and feed the cryofracture system with full fixtures.

e)      Munition Transport System (MTS) Conveyor Stabilizer – The MTS conveyor stabilizer allows a stable transport fixture pickup/dropoff point for the FTS.

f)       Safety Systems – The PDWC utilizes personnel exclusion safety barriers for protection.

g)      HPU – The Hydraulic Power Unit supplies high-pressure hydraulic pressure to Cell #1 and Cell #2 for projectile body clamping and ADAM mine extraction.

h)      Mezzanine – The mezzanine is where the robot controllers and other automated PDWC control system components are located. 

 

 

 

 

i)        Additional Equipment – There is area under the mezzanine that is serviced by the conveyor that will allow additional robot cells to be implemented at a future date.
